Job Title: Senior Engineer, MoveHQ

Updater, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Engineer to join our MoveHQ division. As an individual contributor in the Senior Engineer role, you will play a critical role in driving the implementation and delivery of MoveHQ’s move management platform, ensuring the stability and success of the MoveHQ platform and architecture, and contributing to a culture of collaboration and technical excellence within the MoveHQ engineering team.

About the Role

  • You will ship new platform capabilities and product features for MoveHQ’s suite of products by collaborating on technical designs and leading implementation.
  • You will improve overall software quality, reliability, and performance by collaborating with your team and its stakeholders.
  • You will work within your team to ensure adherence to defined technical standards, technical operations, standards of engineering excellence.
  • You will raise the bar for MoveHQ’s engineering organization by training, coaching, and mentoring engineers on your team, while applying a high standard of technical and professional expectations.
  • You will successfully deliver on the roadmap for MoveHQ’s suite of products, by leading the technical implementation as a senior member.
  • You will ensure that the team meets delivery obligations for MoveHQ’s roadmap with respect to schedule, requirements, software quality, security, and reliability, by collaborating with your team lead, manager, and your team’s stakeholders.
  • You will collaborate on creating technical designs from product requirements and specifications.
  • You will participate in reviewing the team’s technical designs and code, ensuring a high standard of quality, security, performance, and reliability.
  • You will be involved in building and managing the integration and delivery pipeline of team-owned applications and code repositories to ensure rapid, agile delivery, successful integration with other internal and external applications, and minimizing defects and regressions.

About you

  • You have 5+ years of web software development expertise in one or more of the following languages: JavaScript, Ruby, PHP.
  • You have experience developing and shipping scalable, reliable, and performant software-as-a-service (SaaS) for businesses and consumers alike.
  • You have experience as a senior technical contributor in a fast-paced, collaborative startup development environment.
  • You have experience working with relational databases and using ORMs to interact with them.
  • You have unit, integration, and functional test proficiency, including proficiency in test automation frameworks like Cypress, Mocha, or Selenium.
  • You have familiarity with agile environments, using frameworks like Scrum and software like Jira.
  • You are proficient with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using tooling like CircleCI, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write excellent technical documentation and collaborate with product and business stakeholders.
  • You preferably have experience developing and shipping software to the U.S. government (B2G) or software in a highly-regulated space (FedRAMP, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, GDPR).
  • You have experience training and coaching other software engineers as an individual contributor.
  • You’re experienced and comfortable working in a distributed, asynchronous organization.
