About the Role

Are you a Calgary-based building professional with project management experience and a passion for sustainability? Join Sustainable Projects Group (SPG) as a Client Manager for Technical Building Services, where you'll lead impactful retrofit and maintenance projects that improve building performance and reduce carbon emissions.

You’ll work closely with a key client in the multi-unit residential sector, acting as their trusted advisor on capital planning, energy upgrades, and sustainable operations. This is a hybrid role based in Calgary, with expectations to work at the client’s office (or properties) at least a couple days a week in Calgary, with occasional travel to Edmonton.

Key Responsibilities

Client Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the main point of contact for a large residential property client
  • Build trusted relationships through proactive communication and clear project guidance
  • Bridge the gap between asset management, property operations, and technical consultants

Capital Planning & Project Oversight Client Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Develop and execute capital plans aligned with client sustainability and asset goals
  • Oversee construction, retrofit, and maintenance projects from concept to completion
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and SPG internal teams to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery

Building Systems & Energy Optimization

  • Monitor HVAC, lighting, and control systems to ensure optimal performance
  • Recommend and support energy-efficiency measures and GHG reduction initiatives
  • Stay ahead of code compliance, best practices, and industry trends in building operations

Documentation & Reporting

  • Track project milestones, decisions, and deliverables
  • Prepare clear, professional reports and updates for stakeholders
  • Contribute to strategic recommendations and performance insights

Who This Role Is For

You may have experience as a facility manager, building operator, energy manager, or construction/retrofit project lead in residential or commercial buildings. You're technically grounded, client-focused, and passionate about building performance and sustainability.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in building operations, capital planning, or construction/project management in multi-unit residential or commercial buildings
  • Strong understanding of base building systems (HVAC, lighting, controls)
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects and coordinating multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally (within Alberta)

Bonus Experience

  • Building automation systems or commissioning projects
  • GHG reporting, energy audits, or green building certifications (e.g., LEED, BOMA BEST)
  • Professional designation (P.Eng, CET, PMP, or equivalent)
