Position Title: Technical Services Manager
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent, Hybrid (Office/Remote)
Location: Calgary, Alberta
Reports to: Director, Consulting
As a Technical Services Manager at SPG, you’ll play a key role in helping clients develop and execute capital plans that enhance facility performance and reduce carbon emissions. This position is client-facing and technically grounded, requiring strong project management and interpersonal skills. You will have the opportunity to support and advise clients on sustainable building strategies.
While you will be an SPG employee, the role will be primarily focused on a key client in the multi-unit residential sector. You’ll work flexibly between SPG’s Calgary office, the client’s location (Calgary/Edmonton), and your home office, depending on project needs.

Key Responsibilities:
1) Client Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for a major client in the multi-unit residential sector
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear, proactive communication
- Understand and anticipate client needs to provide tailored, high-value advice
- Manage day-to-day client interactions and ensure ongoing satisfaction
2) Team Coordination
- Collaborate with SPG’s technical specialists to align on project objectives
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts, ensuring seamless project execution
- Track project progress, document key activities, and manage time efficiently
3) Capital Planning
- Lead the development of capital plans that align with client and organizational objectives
- Ensure capital projects are well-scoped, budgeted, and executed efficiently
4) Construction Oversight & Proactive Maintenance
- Oversee construction and retrofit projects from inception to completion
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure quality and compliance
- Monitor performance of base building systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and implementing proactive maintenance strategies
5) Energy & Emissions Management
- Support the implementation of energy efficiency initiatives and GHG reduction measures
- Evaluate and recommend energy-efficient technologies for managed properties
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and industry best practices
6) Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a liaison between asset management, property management, operations, SPG, and the client
- Facilitate clear and effective communication across all project stakeholders
- Prepare and deliver well-documented reports and updates
7) Technology & Innovation
- Stay informed on emerging building technologies and trends
- Evaluate and support the deployment of innovative solutions to improve building performance
What You Bring
Minimum Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in building operations, project management, engineering, or related field in multi-unit residential or commercial buildings
- Technical knowledge of base building systems (HVAC, lighting, controls)
- Strong client-facing skills with a track record of building trusted relationships
- Experience with capital planning and construction oversight
- Excellent communication, coordination, and organizational ability
- Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally as needed
- Flexibility to travel as required (mainly within Alberta)
Bonus Points For:
- Experience with building controls systems and commissioning projects
- Familiarity with energy modeling, GHG reporting, or sustainability certifications (e.g., LEED, BOMA BEST)
- Exposure to innovative technologies in the property or energy sectors
- Professional designation (e.g., P.Eng, PMP, CET)

Expected Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 per year
