Building Condition Assessor

Reports to: Consulting Team Lead
Expected Salary: $70,000 – $90,000 depending on experience and level of qualifications
As a key contributor to our team, the Building Condition Assessor will bring technical expertise, leadership, and creativity to our mission of sustainable building practices. In this role, you’ll assess building systems and structures, while also driving innovation in product design, process improvement, and training development. Overview of Tasks:
1. Building Condition Assessments:
- Conduct detailed assessments of mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural systems.
- Analyze and document current building conditions to provide actionable insights for capital planning.
- Develop detailed reports and recommendations, integrating sustainability principles.
- Integrate your findings with the energy modelling team to find additional value and opportunity.
- Leverage your understanding of capital planning to support clients in strategic decision-making.
- Ensure recommendations align with long-term sustainability and financial goals.
2. Leadership and Collaboration:
- Act as a technical leader within the team, mentoring others and driving best practices in building assessments.
- Collaborate with engineers, energy auditors, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for impactful improvements.
- Lead the development of training modules to upskill team members and partners.
- Cross training with the energy team will be offered and you will have the opportunity to create training on the BCA front.
- Oversight will be available from a sr. engineer.
- Design and refine innovative products and systems that support clients in reducing carbon footprints at scale.
3. Product and Process Improvements:
- Design and refine tools and processes to enhance efficiency and scalability in building condition assessments.
- Drive the improvement of our product offerings, ensuring they remain innovative and client-focused.
- Develop creative solutions to integrate your expertise into scalable systems and workflows.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in HVAC design and decarbonization.
What We’re Looking For:
- A highly motivated individual with at least 3 years of experience in building condition assessments or related fields.
- Expertise in assessing and analyzing mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural systems.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) is ideal
- Strong understanding of capital planning processes, with the ability to translate technical assessments into actionable strategies.
- Demonstrated experience in product design, process improvement, or tool development.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and a technical aptitude for adopting emerging tools and technologies.
- Advanced Excel modelling skills, including programming with VBA.
- Proven leadership abilities and experience mentoring or training others.
- A passion for sustainability and the desire to create impactful change in the built environment.
- This is a hybrid in office and work from home position that involves travel
