What We're Looking For:
The Head of People & Talent role is a foundational leadership position, responsible for shaping how Perchwell scales its team, culture, and operating rigor through its next chapters of growth. Own People & Talent at Perchwell with a recruiting-first approach. Build a hiring engine that consistently delivers high-quality candidates and hires, while also establishing the minimum set of People foundations that keep the company healthy as it scales. Recruit for high value roles with a specific focus on technical talent.

What Success Looks Like in 6 Months

  • Hiring plan is being executed against with data driven visibility through: leaders knowing what’s open, what’s stuck, and what decisions are needed.

  • Hits the ground running by owning searches by leveraging deep NY market knowledge to source and close roles, focused on high-value technical and supporting team build outs across the company.

  • By inheriting a recruiting system that already works with clear role definitions, structured interview loops, hiring partners, clean data, consistent debriefs, and a strong closing motion to make it faster, smarter, and more scalable without adding complexity.

What Success Looks Like in 12 Months

  • Recruiting is a dependable machine that scales with the business, with a clear bar for quality and a repeatable approach across functions – measured by time-to-fill by role type and pipeline coverage rations

  • People operations are stable and predictable: policies, compliance, manager support, and core programs run smoothly.

  • The People function is trusted across the company because it is practical, fast, and high judgment.


Required for this Role:

  • Has personally owned hiring outcomes in a fast-moving environment and can speak in specifics about what they delivered as a high velocity recruiter

  • They run recruiting like an operator: pipeline generation, conversion rates, bottleneck fixing, closing.

  • Can drive clarity with leadership and hold a line on process without creating friction or bureaucracy.

  • Has the judgment and maturity to handle sensitive situations and the confidence to say “here’s what we should do.”

  • Leans into building with AI, leveraging Claude Code and next generation tooling to amplify what talent and people can do.

In this role, you’ll work out of our New York City HQ in Soho Manhattan at least 4 days/week.


Bonus Points for the Following:

  • Has owned People Ops beyond recruiting (onboarding, compliance, employee relations processes) in a small company.

  • Has experience with NY / multi-state compliance or has partnered closely with counsel on it.

  • Has built compensation bands / leveling frameworks or partnered with finance on them.

  • Has implemented or cleaned up an ATS/HRIS and built a clean reporting cadence.

Salary Range

To provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base salary ranges for all US-based job postings regardless of state. Our ranges are based on function and level benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including skills, job-related knowledge and depth of work experience.

The compensation for this position is $195-$220K base salary + equity + benefits
