The Barista/Bartender will be responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient operational procedures within all areas of the Café while providing the highest level of customer service and hospitality. This role will focus on preparing and serving coffee, tea, and other non-alcoholic beverages in the cafe. The schedule for this role will be Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:00pm.

How You'll Do It

  • Take food and beverage orders from guests.
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, with an emphasis on coffee and tea beverages, consistent with the Cafe’s recipes.
  • Maintain knowledge on current coffee roasters and accurately share product information.
  • Learn customer names and personally recognize regularsRecord drink orders accurately and immediately after receipt into the register system.
  • Accept guest payment, process credit card charges and make change (if applicable).
  • Wash and sterilize all glassware and dishes.
  • Prepare ready-made food items, garnishes for drinks, and any other items needed to be readily available for proper cafe functioning.
  • Maintain bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages.
  • Keep a tidy space within the prep area and cafe tables.
  • Present food/drink menus, make recommendations and answer questions regarding beverages and food.
  • Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas.
  • Report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to cafe manager.
  • Assist the restocking and replenishment of bar and food inventory and supplies.
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the cafe as directed by the cafe manager or immediate supervisor.

Desired Skills + Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in the food and/or beverage industry
  • 21 years old required
  • NC State ID required
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Have working knowledge of coffee, beer, wine and liquor and common drink recipes.
  • Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a point of sales system.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Google suite, MS Office (Word and Excel), other technologies
  • Adaptable to learning new technologies
  • Ability to work with all levels of staffing, other management and clientele
  • A proven track record in delivering high end customer service
  • Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative startup environment
  • Experience working as a concierge highly desired
