So, what’s the role?
Evaluate and review applications for insurance coverage and assess the risk associated with providing coverage within the assigned level of authority and under the guidance of assigned underwriter(s) and region. Ensure profitability and growth by reviewing new business, inspections, and renewals. They should be licensed or can obtain a license and understand the personal lines insurance space, emphasizing underwriting and risk selection. This position will provide support to operations and claims.
A day in the life could include:
Consistently meet set KPIs and assigned stretch KPIs
Maintain a minimum quality score of 88%
Assists underwriters with reviewing submissions, endorsements, inspection, claims reviews, and renewal reviews within the assigned level of authority
Identifying fundamental underwriting risk issues
Appropriately escalating tasks outside of the level of authority
Assisting in general handling of correspondence and other file-related information
Data verification and manual process improvement
Processing of policy changes or updates, both customer & non-customer-facing
Directing and educating Operation agents toward resources
Additional tasks and responsibilities may change depending on company procedure updates, automation, and new product launches.
I’ve got the skills… but do I have the necessary ones?
Must be able to work 8am - 5pm PT
At least 1-year prior insurance experience
Superior customer service and interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers in an efficient, empathetic, and respectful manner
Driven to Improve performance and efficiency
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Has a high understanding of how customer behavior impacts the propensity for loss
Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment with limited structure
The ability to context switch seamlessly between tasks is a priority, as the team needs to dictate
Proficient in Google Suite or similar tools and capable of navigating multiple tools and windows at the same time
Bonus Points:
A bilingual Spanish speaker is a plus but optional.
Preferred prior personal lines underwriting experience
For Sales Agents and Customer Service Agents: These roles sit in any of the following 30 states: AL, AZ, CO, FL, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, NE, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, WA, and WI.
For all other positions, these roles can sit in any of the following 40 states: AL, AR, AZ, CA (exempt only), CO, CT, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, MA, ME, MD, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, NE, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, WA, and WI.
