So, what’s the role?
The Finance Manager is a high-visibility position on the Corporate Finance team focused on the reporting, planning and analyzing financial results. You will help produce insights and recommendations for leadership, support the development of operating plan and financial forecasting, and analyze performance against these plans. Relying on your analytical and ambitious mentality, you will identify and build real solutions directly impacting Kin’s growth and profitability. This role presents the unique opportunity to assist in building foundational financial processes, models, and reports that will allow us to grow and scale into the future.
A day in the life could include:
Prepare monthly and quarterly financial performance analyses and presentations for executives and the Board
Regularly update and refine operating models and financial forecasts; identify trends and variances against organizational goals
Support the coordination of forecasting and budgeting processes
Act as a business partner to functional team in developing headcount and operating expenses budgets and forecasts; track and optimize vendor expenses
Utilize Adaptive in managing financial planning and forecasting, oversee Adpative and other analytical tools, and identify enhancements and implement
Use robust analytical skills to drive deeper insights into insurance carrier loss and loss adjusted expense trends, highlighting areas of opportunity across business functions and recommending solutions to drive improved performance
Build financial models to evaluate reinsurance arrangements, identify optimal structure and drive efficient capital planning for insurance carriers
Provide accurate, timely reports with compelling financial insights and work with business partners to drive growth and efficiency
Lead ad hoc financial modeling and analysis for special projects
Assist in implementing future financial system and process enhancements/investments
Frequently interact and collaborate with other departments to address business issues, meet organizational objectives, and facilitate collaboration
I’ve got the skills… but do I have the necessary ones?
5+ years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a similarly analytical area
MBA, CFA or Qualified Accountant degree is a plus
Experience in FP&A/Corporate Finance function, preferably within a P&C insurance company, or Audit Accounting covering the P&C insurance industry
Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and Microsoft Excel required
Knowledge of GAAP and preferably statutory accounting practices
Proficiency with complex Financial Planning & Reporting Tool (e.g., Adaptive) preferred
Working knowledge of SQL, Looker, or other data management and reporting tools preferred
Highly motivated and natural self-starter, independent thinker, and team player
Data-focused and creative problem-solver with strong quantitative skills that can spot patterns, trends, and opportunities in data and proactively seek process improvement opportunities
Highly detail-oriented with excellent planning and project management skills
Excellent communication skills; collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
