So, what’s the role?

We are currently looking for a Senior Manager, Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting to join a dynamic and evolving accounting department. Reporting to the Controller, this position will be responsible for technical accounting research, interpretation, and implementation of all new and existing accounting pronouncements guiding the organization on proper accounting treatment for anticipated transactions and for complex accounting matters. In addition, you will lead and develop a portion of the organization’s monthly operational accounting functions. In this role, you'll be a key leader, collaborating with various functional groups.

A day in the life could include:

  • Preparation of the Company’s annual financial statements and notes in accordance with US GAAP for private companies

  • Assist in the preparation and validation of private investor and lender reporting materials including preparation and reporting of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP

  • Lead SEC GAAP adoption to convert private company financial statements to public company requirements

  • Lead annual audit process with external auditors

  • Support the organization's internal control development, SOX 404 assessment, and compliance evolution

  • Writing and reviewing accounting positions according to GAAP

  • Provide accounting guidance to cross-functional teams on complex or new/emerging transactions, ensuring compliance and appropriate application of US GAAP

  • Support adoption of ASC 606 revenue recognition for acquired entities

  • Manage the components of the organization’s month-end closing process and reconciliation reviews including, but not limited to, fixed assets, intangible assets, capitalized software, debt, equity, and cash flow statements

  • Prepare and review monthly financial reporting packages which include P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statement for completeness and accuracy, and provide documented reviews of monthly fluctuations

  • Support, manage and process improve accounts payable and accounts receivable functions of the organization as needed

  • Take on ad projects and other responsibilities supporting accounting and reporting as delegated by management

I’ve got the skills… but do I have the necessary ones?

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting

  • An active CPA license ispreferred

  • Experience in the insurance industry

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting and industry accounting

  • Experience leading and managing dynamic accounting teams

  • Skilled in problem-solving, making decisions, being a self-starter, and working effectively under pressure while meeting deadlines

  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment across a global organization

  • Continuous improvement thinker, capable of identifying and delivering end-to-end process and technology improvement

  • Positive attitude, desire to learn, grow, and be a team player
